<title><![CDATA[ERU Operating Room Nurse]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[Date Added: <b>1/25/2012</b><br /><br />The Canadian Red Cross Society (CRCS), a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is currently seeking experienced medical and non-medical professionals to be part of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) roster of the Canadian Red Cross, to be trained and ready to deploy on short notice in the event of an overseas emergency. 

 - To undertake professional duties under direction of the ERU Team leader / Head Nurse
 - To support the establishment and management of the operating department and recovery ward, in cooperation with the surgeon and anaesthetist
 - To be responsible for the OR equipment, supply and use of drugs and consumables. 
 - To liaise with other hospital staff to plan surgical lists.
 - To work according to the Ministry of Health / WHO guidelines and ensure national standards are maintained, including sterilisation and adherence to universal precautions.
 - To liaise as requested with local health authorities and other health providers.
 - To supervise and provide training for local personnel, where appropriate.
 - To ensure all documentation meets local legal requirements and that statistical data is collated, using the health monitoring system, and to incorporate information in regular reports.
 - To support the capacity of the host National Society and develop skills where possible.
